How to setup Topaz Labs as a Plugin to Adobe Lightroom
Topaz Studio 2, Adjust AI, DeNoise AI, Gigapixel AI and Sharpen AI can all be used as a plugin.
Please note, JPEG to RAW AI is currently standalone only. Mask AI is not designed to work in Lightroom but does operate in Photoshop and Topaz Studio 2.
Compatibility:
- Lightroom 4-6
- Lightroom CC 2015-2016
- Lightroom CC 2019
* Lightroom CC 2018 does not support any external editors.
AI Products and Studio/Topaz Studio 2:
* Gigapixel AI and JPEG to RAW are only available as standalone at this time and cannot be configured as external editors.
1. Go to your menu bar and choose Edit >> Preferences: For Windows: |
For Mac: |
2. Go to the External Editing tab:
3. For this example, we are using Topaz Sharpen AI. About halfway down you will see the Additional External Editor Section. Click "Choose"
If Lightroom already has a preset other than "Custom" selected, click the Clear button, then click Choose:
4. Search or navigate to your desired program. Select the program itself, not the whole folder. It will have an icon similar to the one below: |
5. Under the Preset line, you will need to name your preset so it shows up in the drop-down menu items when going to Photo >> Edit in >> Topaz Labs Application when you are done.
To do this click on the Preset line item and then click on Save Current Settings as New Preset:
Name your External Editor with the name of the Topaz Labs product and click on Create:
The settings should look like this when you are done:
Exit the Lightroom preferences and invoke the plugin by selecting an image >> Photo>> Edit it >> pick the Topaz Labs software from the drop-down list.
